ESTABLISHMENT OF THE COUNCIL
THE RAJASTHAN MEDICAL COUNCIL was established under the Rajasthan Medical Act.
No. XIII of 1952, published in the Rajasthan Gazette (Raj-Patra) No. 11
dated April 12, 1952, vide Govt. of Rajasthan Law Department Notification No. F.12
(65)-L/51- dated March 31,1952 for fulfillment of the aims and
the objectives as laid down in the Act.
Even prior to the formation of the State of Rajasthan, in the earst-while -
State of Jaipur, there existed The Jaipur Medical Council, which was succeeded
by The Rajasthan Medical Council for the fulfillment of the aims and the
objectives as laid down in the Act of Legislature in the year 1952.
ORGANISATIONAL SET-UP
Rajasthan Medical Council consists of following
members as per proviso 4 of the Rajasthan Medical Act. 1952.

A President to
be nominated by the Government. |
(b) |
Three members to be
nominated by the Government. |
(c) |
One member to be
elected from amongst the members of the faculty of Medicine by the senate of
University of Rajputana. |
(d) |
One member to be
elected by and from among the staff of each Medical College affiliated to the
University Of Rajputana. |
(e) |
Three members to be elected from amongst themselves by Registered Medical
Practitioners who are graduates in Medicine or Surgery, and |
(f)

Three members to be
elected from amongst themselves by Registered
Practitioners other than those referred to in clause (e)

A member of the Council should be a Registered Practitioner.
FUNCTIONS OF THE COUNCIL
The Rajasthan Medical Council is an autonomous body. The Council registers the
qualified Medical Persons who are possessing the qualifications recognized by the
Medical Council of India.
Keeps a register of bio-datas of the qualified doctors.
# The Council keeps a strict watch on the
Conduct and Ethics of
the Medical
profession.
# The Council Conducts the enquiry on receipt of complainst against
the
Registered Medical Practitioners
and if found guilty, he/she will be punished as per Rules.sp; Registered Medical Practitioner, and if found guilty,
award punishment as per Rajasthan Medical Council is housed in it's own building which is centrally
located at Sardar Patel Marg, C-Scheme, Jaipur. It is about 3 K.M. from Railway
Station and Bus Stand. It is less then 1 K.M. from Secretariate and Directorate
of Medical Health Services. There was a long
felt need for a Guest House for incoming Medical Professionals. It was the
brilliant idea of the Council that an upper storey be provided in the existing
building for Guset House, with the funds of the Council. This was carried out,
and the same is being inaugurated by H.E. the Governor of Rajasthan. It is to be
specially mentioned that this is the first of its kind in the entire country
having boarding and lodging and it is on no loss no profit basis. Total seven
rooms are air conditioned, kitchen, dining lounge (40’x 60’) and a specious
reception hall.
